According to Emua Fashions the brand was initially known as Cyntylytyous Fashions, a creation of a 22 year old Cynthia Kio, a young, talented and experienced designer inToronto.Cynthia is a student atYorkUniversity who has been able to harness and entwine African traditions and culture in fashion and presented it success.  . Her love for fashion can be dated as far back as her birth date. As a little child, Cynthia used to draw and sew designs for her dolls. The mission of Emua Fashions is to present the fashion, tradition and culture of Africa in rejuvenating class and elegance.

The Emua Fashions team is comprised of six young people envisioning the proliferation of African fashion on people of African and Non-African descent.
