Africa Fashion Week kicked off today in South Africa with the bang.  Some of  the hottest African designers such as  David Tlale, Deola Sagoe  and Xuly Beti  were among the first  to unveil their latest collections.   Here is just a sneak peek of Tanzanian Model Millen Magese wearing a piece from designer Deola Sagoe vintage collection. Here is another African designer to know, Washington Roberts. Born in Nigeria but now reside in New York, Washington was influenced by his grandmother Beatrice who was a devout seamstress. For his Fall 2010 collection, Washington drew his inspiration from photos of beach rocks. The shapes and the layering of the stones on top of one another made him think of drapes. The textures of the beach rocks also induced him to combine different fabrics together,  fabrics such silk and wool, silk jersey and Crepe back satin silk.

Here is a quick look from his Fall 2010 collection. The collection is very feminine, elegant and eye catching. I am very much in love  with it's  fluidity, the simple color palettes and shapes. These are definitely my fave looks from the bunch. Second and third looks above remind me of Chloe. I love.

I wont rest until I get my hands on this beautiful Forever 21 sheer lace tunic. Sheer  and lace are huge this summer.This trend is very feminine,delicate and has a touch of sophistication to it. I always feel sexy whenever I wear anything sheer or lace. It is a great way to spice up a simple outfit. This tunic would be so perfect on a hot summer night  worn over a black top preferably a black or nude Alexander Wang  one-shoulder sports bra and a pair of black or denim short shorts. To complete the look I would put on a pair of  nude Yves Saint Laurent Trib pumps (love them). Manhattan roof top parties anyone???The tunic is going for  $29.00.

Here is a little teaser of  the new Aya Morrison  Dashiki tote bag Collection seen here first. This bag is from a collection of lightweight bags  in the traditional African Tribal -Inspired  fabrics with eclectic patterns. I know some of you guys are going to loose you mind once this collection is released. I just pre-ordered the tote yesterday as a present for a very good friend. Sending a very Happy Birthday to my dear friend and a sister from another mother  Bisila Bokoko  who celebrated her birthday yesterday. Bisila and  I have been friends for  a year now but It feels like we have known each other for years. We actually met at her birthday party last year and clicked instantly. So as we celebrate her birthday  this weekend we are also celebrating our one year anniversary of our friendship. I love Bisila. She is one of  those girls that are real. The ones who love you, appreciate you and take you for who you are. She is truly loving , caring, fun and we always have a wonderful time when we are together.   I love you sis.  Happy Birthday.

How would you like to bling your eyes with  Christian Dior  logoed contact lenses?  According to Fashionindie, Christian Dior has recently released  contact lenses featuring gold edging and CD monogram on the corner.  I kinda like the idea but somehow I feel like it's a bit too much. However, the lenses look pretty neat and interesting.  I know a lot of fashionistas out there who would love to get their hands on these lenses. I can only imagine what would happen if Gucci and Luis Vuitton release their versions.  Just picture someone rocking Gucci monogram ensemble from top to bottom  plus Gucci contact lenses..interesting huh!!!
