From FJ Man: Happy Thanksgiving

Happy  thanksgiving  FJ man Family. In  this  joyous  time that we dedicate  full time efforts in mingling and cohabitating with family and friends, we should  always  keep in mind what we wear and how we wear it, where we go and whom we go out with and what we drink and who we drink with. If you  live  near the big  apple and its environs, you certainly know how chilly it gets around thanksgiving, heck  they are predicting we might have slight showers of the wintery kind. Guys this  is just great for us, you want to stay warm but  light and fashionably mature and elegant around family and friends. This is not  the time to put on your bicep hugging pullovers and your tight skinny jeans.

Go with your loose fitting cashmeres and heavy plaid shirts, jeans  will and should be the order of the day, and newspaper  boy  whole  hat will go well  over and slightly unshaven face. Read More Here >>>>>

Pele

Patrick Kluivert

Yes Fj man brings you a fresh look into the styling of men in sports and the clothes they wear. Ever since the dawn of time celebrated men in sports have always been numerated highly, not only do they get famous, they seem to also walk with the most beautiful ladies on their arms .

David Beckham casual look.

I would like to take us back to the beginning of this century where about celebrated boxers from Jack Johnson, to sonny Liston, Mohammed Ali,  Joe Louis and Joe Frazier used to be decked out in the coolest suits and ride in the most hot automobiles of the day.
Rio Ferdinand
Yes sports runs hand in hand with fashion . If we go back to the world of soccer, some of the world's most famous athletes from yesteryears from the prolific Eusebio of Portugal , to the great Pele , Johan Cruyff,to George Best ,ZICO ,Socrates , Michel Platini. These men exemplified the  well dressed man .

If you notice the standard of press conference appearance was always that you have to be dressed in a suit and tie .In Basket ball ,the earlier days saw players like Bill Russell,Willis Reed, Dr J(Julius Erving) Maurice cheeks, Bill Bradley, Jerry Lucas, Earl "the pearl" Monroe  who became fashion leaders of their time.  Dressing in sweat shirts and T-shirts were not  choices  for these Fashionistas  .

Dwayne Wade

This tradition of mixing sports and fashion has continued to this day. As you may notice since 1980 the GQ picks of well dressed men always profile a variety of sports figures from all sports be it Track and Field ,Basketball , Soccer,American Football ,Golf, Formular one Racing etc. Today we will highlight and bring to you profiles of some of the sports figures that we savor their sense of style and Fashion and some of the old world styles of the former greats.

Revisiting FJ Man- Must have pieces for your wardrobe

Hi FJ Men out there
What do you think are the most versatile pieces you as a man should own in your wardrobe??According to Askmen, whether you love to shop, dont have the patience to shop, have no time to shop because you are busy working or don't have the money to shop there are certain pieces you as a man should own no matter what.
1. White dress shirt- Its classic and goes with anything2. Navy suit- More easier to pair up with bright colored clothing or ties. Suggestion; British Paul Smith's suits for a contemporary suit for all occasions (meetings, job interviews, or dates e.t.c). Blazer can be paired up with jeans or other items in your closet and still gives you a classic look. Remember to go for quality there fore be ready to splurge! 3. Polo shirts- Great for casual looks for work, weekends and summer time.4. Jeans -A perfect fitting jeans is all you need. Dark-rinse jeans are morre versatile and will flatter your body than light wash denim. 5. Jacket - Go for two button gray wool blazer. Gray is a strong, masculine color that can be paired up with other neutrals colors as well as bright and pastel hues.

6.Cashmere sweater - This should be a staple in every man's closet. 100% cashemeres might cost a few hundreds but are good investment. Go for V-neck colored cashmere sweater such as orange, green, red or purple like Jamie Fox. 7.Classic coat- You definetly need to invest on a great coat in order to warm and stylish during the cold weather. Peacoat in black or caramel is classic. So what do you guys think?? Anything else to be added to the list??

Revisiting FJ Man: MEN STYLE SENSIBILTIES

Some would call it plain, dry, simple, we call it weather proven to beat the competition. The basic white dress shirt is perfect piece on which to hang your personal style. Its an equal opportunity fashion, no matter what your hair color , skin tone body size and height and garth you'll always look sharp in crisp white cloth.Maximize it to your benefit with a business suit and a power tie to seal the deal, or untucked with jeans or khakis to convey the casual elegance on a date or out with friends or throw a fleece sweater(round collared or V collared)over the white shirt. Most importantly invest in one or a few well made durable white shirts, long sleeved preffered but short sleeves is necessary for the hot humid days. How do you check shirt quality, most quality shirts have mother of pearl or bone buttons not plastic and there should be enough buttons down the front to keep gaps at a minimum/ if you are trying to save cost, look for cotton poplin for moderately priced shirt or go higher end with pima cotton of silk cotton blend . Revisiting FJ Man- Guys what should you wear on your first date??

By RosemaryKokuhilwa · May 28, 2010 · 0 Comments ·

Got a date?? I mean First date?  what should you wear? Well deciding what to wear on your first date sometimes can be a little difficult.  We suggest you go for a  simple clean look yet appropriate for the occassion? Also comfort is the key, try wear clothes that suits you and your personal style. But its nice to try different style sometimes or new looks.  Remember it doesn't matter whether its first date or not one thing about us women is that we are fashion consciuos,  it would be nice if you try to impress your date.

1. If you are planning having a dinner date try  tailored slim fitting suit or if you don't want to look like you are trying too hard go for a nice dress pants and shirt with elegant shoes (only you are planning on having your date at a fancy/upscale restaurant)2. Picnics are suppose to be more laid -back so wear something comfortable. Khaki pants or Linen pants paired up with a white shirt( try linen) and brown sandals will give you a more relaxed look.

3. If you are going to take her to the movies for a first date try a pair of jeans with a nice top and throw on a  jacket then complete your look with nice pair of sneakers or loafers

4. For night spots you can try a pair of dark rinse jeans or straight dark pants, nice collared shirt and a blazer. Dont be afraid of new trends and remember to minimize your accessories.( don't wear 4,5 rings or layers and layers of chains at the same time)

I just wanted to share these photos of  designer Sheria  na Mavazi  posted on  his Face Book today.  On the photos he is rocking some pieces from his recent collection. I must say I am so feeling the color contrast  on both looks.  I know  most men are afraid of wearing colors mostly because they don't know how or sometimes are just being afraid of being called feminine by narrowed minded people.Well FJ Men, If you love colors and don't know how to pop them, take a long look at these photos. This is how you do  color contrast and my friend here is rocking these looks so well. I love the fact he opted for pair of colorful prints suspenders instead of a belt  and completed  both looks with caramel colored loafers. More photos

FJ Man Friday: A WELL DRESSED MAN GUIDE TO SUITS

By RosemaryKokuhilwa · September 25, 2009 · 0 Comments ·

The universal language of what makes a man well dressed is more varied than it has ever been. Men in black suits with black shirts and no ties make deals with men in sack suits and oxford button downs paired with navy ties sporting little green whales. Do they despise each other? Do they even notice anymore? Different silhouettes for suits abound and are the fashion all at the same time. The differences can be regional (London, Milan, Naples,Kinshasha,Abidjan) or simply a matter of fit and taste. One needs to consider what image they want to present to the world. To pursue the image of someone not yourself too often is to lose yourself in the process. You may be dreaming of a look that may or may not work on you personally. You may also be dreaming of a look that doesn’t work today for the purposes you need it to. For example, you may want to look like a particular actor from the 1930s but can you really carry it off, today? Read More Here
