NYFW: Mataano Fall 2013

Catching up slowly on New York Fashion Week posts. So I was lucky enough to have a sneak peek of Mataano new Fall 2013 few days before it's debut on the runway. And oh boy, I was so amazed with the duo's new direction on this collection. Knowing them and having being a huge fan of their designs, it was absolutely refreshing to see these girls get outside their comfort zone. It was very unexpected, a little dark yet with so much rich texture.
" ....we wanted to broaden our scope and push the brand in an assertive direction", said the designers on their flier that handed out to guests at the show. The new collection is all about power dressing with edginess to it. Animal print, silk dresses and blouses, knits, faux fur and tailored pieces were all presented on the runway. Interesting pieces like wool coats with patent leather details on the pockets and the bordeaux leather pencil skirt with asymmetrical patent leather piece insert over it were eye catching. There were a lot of great separates which are easily wearable and guaranteed to give the Mataano woman the confidence she needs to control her own destiny.

Rihanna for River Island: My Two Cents

Rihanna debut her first collection as a designer for River Island on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the London Fashion Week. My first thought when I first saw the collection was oh, very Rihanna-ish. I remember she mentioned on the video clip that the collection is pretty much something she would wear herself. However, on a second look I felt the sense that everything presented on Saturday night was either already seen or at least worn by Rihanna herself. I did not feel anything new nor exciting. I just felt like she went to her closet , picked some pieces and just styled them rather than designing them. Was I impressed?. Well, it's Rihanna, she has no experience in this business whatsoever and so I was not impressed at all. I love Rihanna, y'all know that but this collection did not do it for me. I wanted to see something very daring just like her. No doubt, if I was asked to choose top three looks from the collection they would be the above looks. What do you think of the collection?

NYFW: Candela Fall 2013

Candela Fall 2013 collection was fiminine, romantic and very easy on the eyes. It had a little bit of everything, from delicate lace, floral embroidery, beaded mesh, leather to knits. My fave look was the above black tiered lace maxiskirt worn with motorcycle jacket. Very girlie, romantic with a bit of edgeness.
NYFW: BCBG Max Azria Fall 2013

I didnt attend BCBG Max Azria show this season but I got a chance to check runway images online and all I can say is I am totally inspired. For Fall 2013 BCBG Max Azria new collection was inspired by Instanbul's architectural beauty and the eclectic style of southern European gypsies. Major layering, Leather, silk sheer, fur, cashmere and jacquard were all featured on this collection. I love how all the looks were styled with beanies. It makes me wanna go out for a hunt of a perfect beanie :). Above are my top 4 looks from the collection.

First thing first Darlings, Happy Valentine's Day .......and A very Happy Single Awareness Day to all the single fashionistas out there :-)! Secondly, I must apoligize for fewer blog updates during fashion week. Also, if you noticed the blog template isn't what I normally use. It is all technical stuff but I am in the middle of fixing things around here. So please bare with me.
Today is last day of NYFW and boy, all I can say is I am glad it is over. Thruth is I only went to like 15 shows. As I mentioned on my previous blog post, my NYFW schedule this time around was a bit tight.
